Supporting Every
Off-Ice Goal

Hockey teaches kids skills that help them succeed on the ice and lessons that help them excel when they leave the arena.

Every goal is important. That’s why Scotiabank aims to help young people reach their infinite potential by investing in the complete picture of their development. Through our donations, we hope young people gain life-long skills and values that help them grow into healthy, contributing adults.

Canada Learning Code

The Girls Learning Code program is an educational program by Canada Learning Code. It aims to start tackling the gender tech gap by offering interactive learning to female-identified, trans, and non-binary youth ages 3-12. Workshops provide hands-on experience building with code, to inspire them to become creators - not just consumers - of technology.

With funding from Scotiabank, the program is set to reach more than 2,400 diverse youth through over 60 workshops over the course of three years.

First Book Canada

Nearly 25% of Canadian households don’t have a single book, something which can have lasting effects on children’s educational and economic prospects.

First Book Canada works to provide equal access to education, and with support from Scotiabank, they are set to distribute 240,000 books throughout the next three years, ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed off the ice.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada

Mentorship is a youth-adult partnership, which ignites the power and potential of young people, develops life-long assets, and fosters resiliency so youth grow into successful and contributing members of our communities. It is estimated that at least 15,000 young people across Canada are waiting for a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor. Starting in 2019, Scotiabank made a $3.1 million commitment over five years to support youth mentoring programs through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. Our donation will help accelerate one-to-one mentoring relationships and build capacity for youth mentorship through volunteer recruitment and impact measurement initiatives.

Students on Ice Foundation

The Students on Ice Foundation builds leadership and capacity for a sustainable future by providing a platform for transformative learning and cross-cultural collaboration. Students on Ice’s core program is educational expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic and funding from Scotiabank helps secure scholarships for youth to participate in these life-changing trips.

FlipGive

For teams looking for a better alternative to traditional fundraising, Scotiabank Hockey Club has partnered with FlipGive, an innovative funding app that helps teams earn cash back on the things parents are already buying online and in-store. And with the ability to accept donations and earn bonus cash with contests and promotions, it’s a quick and effortless way for everyone to reach their fundraising goals for the season.
